The World Is My Runway

Ok, this is starting to get out of control.  My obsession with army green continues and it is getting ridiculous!  It's everywhere I look in the stores and I cannot refrain from buying every item in this amazing color!  Somebody stop me before I drown in a sea of army green clothes!  Pretty soon I'm going to be dressed in a complete ensemble of army green and look like Oscar the Grouch!  Except with a smile of course!   I loooove these loose shorts.  They were on sale at Charlotte Russe for $12.

I don't normally like pairing two loose items together, but showing a little leg kind of makes it ok for some reason.  This shirt appears to be shapeless, but is actually perfectly nipped and tucked in the right places to create a little silhouette.

I have to say that I am completely smitten with clogs.  They are awesome!

This gold necklace I bought at Burlington Coat Factory for $7.  My favorite bangle bracelets and a cocktail ring from Forever 21 add a little more sparkle...as if it needed it.  I just realized that if I was wearing a floppy hat, rather than a fedora, I would kind of feel J Lo-esque.  LOL!  Maybe it's the shirt...

As I mentioned in an earlier post, my 3 year wedding anniversary was this week and the hubby and I spent the day at the Aquarium.  A smorgasbord of beautiful scenery!  My camera was going wild!

My goal in my attire was to be comfortable, but still look hot for my husband!  A cotton military dress with my extremely comfortable oxfords fit the bill!  A fringed shoulder bag was light enough to carry throughout the day, but big enough to carry all the necessary things a girl needs (Compact, lipgloss, hand sanitizer, tissues...and the list goes on and on!).  A woman's purse is like a black hole!  You never know what you might find in there!

There were so many interesting things at the Aquarium, but coolest by far was the shark exhibit.  My husband, being a huge fan of Shark Week and just sharks in general, was like a little kid in a candy store.

I am quite smitten over sunsets and the ocean!  I have taken up a new interest in photography and have been seeing the world through a camera lens!  Here is a beautiful photo I thought I would share with you.  A walk by the shore watching the sunset was truly a romantic setting and the end to a wonderful day!

Here we go again...wearing yet another pair of cargo skinnies.  I am absolutely loving this trend!  It is cool, comfortable and chic rolled into one amazing pair of pants!  This trend opened up a whole new set options in the realm of my bottom half!  It becomes so mundane to wear jeans everytime casual attire is what I desire (haha that rhymes!  What a poet I am!).  So in opposition to the title of this post, it is easy WEARING my green cargos!

The title of this post is in honor of my 3 year wedding anniversary this week!  I am just in a lovey dovey and romantic mood!

I REALLY enjoy being a girl!  This outfit has it all...pink, lace, heels, and a little sparkle!  Light pink and brown have been one of my favorite color combinations recently.  They epitomize romance, softness, and elegance!

This look is a little much for an office, but if you add a tan or cream blazer it would probably be great in a creative work environment.  I love this lace blouse paired with a heavier material skirt!  The material reminds me of a couch (a very pretty one!) or drapes.  One might not think to put these two together fearing that there may be too much going on.  By mixing different textures you create a much more interesting look that will stand out!

Mixing prints is really in right now, so I thought I would give it a go.  I don't think I've ever tried it before, so this should be fun!  I decided to go with mixing two different stripe patterns.  Definitely easier to pull off than any other prints.  I have read that when you are mixing stripes, use items with the same color pallette and mix smaller stripes with bigger.  The rest of the outfit, keep pretty simple.

This was a really fun look to wear!  Looking at the photos I am actually liking it better than when I was wearing it.  Don't be afraid to try new things.  You just might be pleasantly surprised!

Some of you may not like the mixing of patterns, it is really a matter of preference.  So...here is another option, just for YOU!  (See below picture, I am pointing at you! haha)

If you like my double stripe look, I encourage you to try it and make it your own!  In fact, I DARE YOU! :)

See how happy I am now that I don't have massive roots anymore?  After 6 hours of sitting in a chair with enough foil on my head to aquire a satellite signal, I became blonde, blonde, blonde!  It's a little lighter than before, and I'm likin' it!

Judging from the name of this post, you can probably guess that I'm obsessed once again.  Cargo skinnies are super cool!  Of course, adding a frilly shirt gives this outfit the feminine touch it needs.  I don't want the cargos to give off the construction worker vibe!  Although you don't really catch any construction workers wearing tight skinnies.  That would be rather frightening...how on earth would they move around?

As you can see, I'm having a little too much fun...

These leopard Kathy Van Zeeland shoes are going to carry me through fall, winter, spring AND next summer!  They are great for this hot weather, but I am especially excited to wear them with tights and a skirt when it gets cold!

FYI this is not my car.  It's actually a car parked in front of a house where no one lives.  There are tons of spider webs on it!  I was a little freaked out, but thought it would make for a cool picture.

Today was just one of those days where my face was strange in every single picture I took!  Not a photogenic day for me.  I actually delete most of the pictures I take...I have to take many before it looks the way I want.  It is a new perspective seeing yourself the way the world sees you.  I recommend that you try photographing your daily ensembles (and then send me the pics so I can share them).  It helps you determine what looks good on you and what doesn't!  There are times that I think I love an outfit, and then I see it in a photo...I will run right back to my closet and change!  We are definitely our own worst critics, but hopefully you won't be too hard on me today!  I cropped my head out of a lot of these pictures, so you could focus on the outfit and not the weird faces I was making!

I am loving this dress from JC Penny.  It was seriously only $5!  It is made of a thin, cotton, t-shirt material, and is so comfortable!  I had a field day at JC Penny the other day!  Everything was so incredibly cute and inexpensive.  The long chain necklace was $5 as well.

These shoes are BCBG, and I got them a while back at Ross.  They have a tiny scratch on the back of the heel, so they were marked down to $17.  There's nothing like finding a good quality brand for a cheap price!  You can find good quality brand name shoes at discount places like Ross, Marshalls, Burlington Coat Factory, and DSW.  Sometimes you may have to dig, or search for sizes, but it is totally worth the extra effort!  I don't really care about brand names...if it's cute, and a decent price I will buy it!  But I do try to buy good quality shoes because they tend to be more comfortable.  After all, I am a shoe girl!  If I had to wear a paper bag, but still had cute shoes on, I would be happy!

Like my new do?  Okaaay...I didn't really chop my hair off.  My hair is just in a low ponytail.   Ever since bobs have been all the rage (a la Rihanna), I have wanted to try it but have never had the guts!  This is a great way to fake it if you don't want the commitment.  It really only works if you have layers in the front.

For some reason, I just love a cutout sleeve.  It's like "oooh, there's my shoulder!"  Kinda hot.  Some girls show off cleavage, some legs, but no... I show off my shoulders!  Calm down there!  Haha.  What strange body part are you proud of?  Ears?  Elbows?  Ok, nobody likes their elbows.  Random.

Zipper detailing is so awesome!  I think the last time I had zippers on the bottom of my pants was when I was 6.  You know you're an 80's kid if you owned a pair of Jordache jeans that zipped up in the back and had a bow above the zipper.  I think they might have been light pink too!  As they say, all trends come back around, but I'm glad the good trends from the 80's came back and not the horrific ones.

Notice in the above picture, my right heel is totally sunk into the ground?  Heels + soft dirt = not a good idea!  I am actually giggling in this picture at all the ridiculousness.  I love moments when I'm alone and just start laughing to myself.  It must look odd and a little crazy, but hey I'm ok with that!  Whenever I do something dorky like trip on my own feet, first I look to see if anyone witnessed it, and THEN I laugh.  You know you do it too!

My favorite dark skinny jeans paired with a silky, berry colored blouse and neutral blazer!  My job does not require me to dress up, but I like to be comfortable, casual and professional at the same time.  This is the perfect mix of all three!

This is the first time I have worn this necklace, and I have had it for months.  It is a really interesting color.  I couldn't figure out what to wear with it and then A-HA!  A burst of berry went perfectly!

I must apologize for my protruding roots.  Surprise!  I'm not a natural blonde!  Wha-wha-whaaaat?  Haha!  Is anybody anymore?  I have a hair appointment this weekend, so I promise they'll be gone soon.  Now you know why I've been wearing so many hats! ;)
