Furrr-ocious!

December 2, 2010 12:30 am · Posted by sassysweetheart

You may have thought that I fell off the face of the earth due to my lack of posting for the past three weeks, but I assure you I did not.  I am back and this time I am OBSESSED with faux fur.  Before I get into my outfit of the day, let me just share some news with you all.  I am officially pregnant with my first child and so completely excited!  Yay!  It has been a trying couple of weeks due to the fact that I am dealing with morning sickness (all day sickness more like it) and exhaustion.  It is tough getting out of bed in the morning, much less putting together outfits and posing for the camera.  Thankfully I have been feeling better as my first trimester is coming to an end in a couple of weeks and am back with a new spring in my step!  (Ok cheesy I know)

Now let me just talk about my faux fur obsession.  It seems to always pop up again during the fall/winter season, so whatever fur item you buy will most likely always be in season.  The winter months always make me feel like wearing it!  And to top it off, it is practical because it makes you feel cozy and warm.  My sister found this scarf in Forever 21 while we were shopping together, and we scoured the store in search for another.  To my dismay, they were all out.  I have looked for it in countless Forever 21 stores in my area and even online!  So, sadly to say, this scarf does not belong to me.  My sis (being the sweet and loving sister she is) let me borrow it for a little while.  I am still on a mission to find one of my own!

See, it really IS a scarf!  You didn't believe me did you?  I just belted it to make it look like a vest.  The leggings and sweater I purchased at Target for about $20 total.  Target is a great place to get basics for cheap.  Especially on the sale rack!  I bought these boots at Bakers at the end of the winter season last year for only $30!  They are real leather, and normally go for $100.  Make sure you hit the end of season sales this year!  It is the best time to get amazing deals on boots and jackets!

I See London, I See France...

October 7, 2010 2:38 am · Posted by sassysweetheart

The season of tights and boots has begun!  I use to relate tights to little kids or old ladies, but it is a new generation!  Now can't get enough of them!  There are so many different patterns, textures and colors.  You can really have a lot of fun with them!

There is so much going on in this outfit.  It is kind of a hodge podge of random items, but I had so much fun wearing it.  I felt like I belonged in London or Paris...maybe it's the hat.

These boots were purchased from Bakers at the end of the winter season.  One of the best deals I have ever found on good quality boots...$30!  What a steal!  The end of season sales are where you can always find the best deals!  Granted, you may have to wait a little while until you use the item, but it is well worth it!  It's like getting a Christmas ornament from someone as a Christmas present.  You have to wait a WHOLE YEAR to use it!  I know, I know, it's the thought that counts. :)

Lumberjack Boots

October 4, 2010 1:04 pm · Posted by sassysweetheart

The leaves are starting to change, the sky is looking gloomy...but why is it still warm outside?!!  This outfit is as close to fall as I can get without dying from heat exhaustion!  I am sooo in denial about the weather.  My body's telling me no...but my miiiiind's telling me yes!  (Haha R Kelly reference)

These boots are the most difficult ones in my closet to wear!  I love them, but had the worst time EVER finding something to wear with them!  They are kind of bulky, and I have scrawny little legs.  Also, they are kind of lumberjack-esque (Yes, sometimes I make up my own words), so I don't want to look too manly!  I TOTALLY based this outfit off of the boots.  Determination clouded my judgement as I opened my closet this morning!

I am pretty proud of these jeans.  Found them on sale at Target for $13 and I have to say that they are pretty awesome!  Great fitting pants are few and far between for me, as probably for most women.  But when I laid eyes on these studded, distressed skinnies, I knew immediately that they would fit!  Love those moments!  When I first started wearing jeans with holes in them (purposely distressed), I can't even tell you how many people would ask me "oh, what happened did you fall down?" as they laughed to themselves, thinking that they were hilarious!  I love it!  I too laugh at my own jokes more times than not...(as she gives a sheepish grin).

Laces Out

September 25, 2010 6:57 pm · Posted by sassysweetheart

Yes, I know sometimes my pictures can be a little dorky, but I am just a silly girl!  Silly.  Silly.  Silly.  I have been DYING to wear this lace blazer!  Wearing black lace in the day, during the summer feels a little gothic, and that is definitely not the look I am going for!  Even though I don't think it is officially fall yet, it IS September, and that is good enough for me!

It's Not Easy Being Green

Here we go again...wearing yet another pair of cargo skinnies.  I am absolutely loving this trend!  It is cool, comfortable and chic rolled into one amazing pair of pants!  This trend opened up a whole new set options in the realm of my bottom half!  It becomes so mundane to wear jeans everytime casual attire is what I desire (haha that rhymes!  What a poet I am!).  So in opposition to the title of this post, it is easy WEARING my green cargos!

Just Me and My Ray Bans

I’ve found that as I get older, the level of comfort I require in my attire is much higher.  Sometimes you just want to be in comfortable flat shoes instead of a heel!  I would love have legs like the models in magazines.  Their legs look a mile long even in flats!  But lets get real.  I am five foot one, and have short legs.  It is incredibly difficult for me to look cute or feel sexy in a flat shoe!  Let’s face it ladies...as soon as we put on those stilettos, our sexy factor jumps up!  There is something about a high heel that just makes you strut!  It is almost impossible not to!

Nevertheless, I am absolutely DIGGING (Are people still saying that? Probably not. Ha) these oxfords!  Do you DIG them too?  They are a little bit odd and old man like (why does everything I wear look old man-ish?), but I adore them anyway!  The chunky heel adds a bit of height to short, little me, and they are super comfortable!

Two words: Ray...Ban...music to my ears!  I love my Ray Bans!  They make me feel cool.

It felt kind of strange taking a picture of my derriere (buttocks, in case you didn't know) but I assure you, it was only to show you the awesome studs on the pockets of my jeans!  I love little details on clothing!

Piled on my arm with a couple of bracelets, there is a watch, which is something out of the norm for me.  I hate wearing watches because someone ALWAYS asks me the time.  I will then proceed to stand there in awkward silence as I try to count the lines on my watch.  It is beyond ridiculous!  Don't get me wrong, I can tell time.  It's just that when the numbers aren't marked, it takes me a little longer than it should!  Maybe a digital watch would better suffice.  The one I'm wearing actually doesn't even work.  It's just for cuteness purposes!  Hey, give me a break...it matches my shoes!
