The World Is My Runway

Since it has been raining a bit where I live I have been drawn to my hat collection a lot more frequently.  My hair turns to an awful, frizzy, mess in the rain and I would rather just avoid it altogether!  Not only that, but I am starting to get roots again!  Almost time for another hair appointment!

So what do you think of shorts with tights?  I love it because it enables you to wear shorts when it's cold!  It opens up so many more style options the colder months.  When I first wore shorts, tights and heels I felt a little hoochie (are people still saying that?) but when I asked my husband, he said it looked nice.  He is always my gauge in hoochie-ness!  I can always count on him for the truth!  I don't think he wants his wife parading around in booty shorts!  Heehee.

Grey and green is my new favorite color combination.  My husband actually wore some grey shorts and a green shirt the other day (by my suggestion).  He originally thought it didn't match but I explained to him that grey is a neutral and basically goes with anything!  You would think that being so into fashion, that I would want to style everyone I know!  Believe it or not, I don't normally pick out my husband's clothes!  I just throw in little suggestions here and there!  I tell him "You know sports, but I know fashion!"  To each his own!

How amazing is this purse?  It is Nine West and I got it at Marshall's for $15 because the clasp was broken.  I fixed it!  I love deals like that because a lot of damaged items are fixable!  You just have to make sure that it is worth the discount.  In this case I saved about $15.  Totally worth it!

Just being silly.  Seriously, I look so ridiculous when taking pictures of myself.  Just me...by myself...with a tripod...jumping around.  Ahhh the humiliation.

It is completely and officially cold outside where I live!  No more random days of 95 degree weather I hope.  In all actuality, we are never really happy with the weather.  We always want it to be what it is not.  I'm sure I will soon be ranting about how I am sick and tired of wearing tights and jackets everyday!  But as of this moment, I am reveling in it!  There is nothing like the fresh air after the rain.  I don't care for the rain, but the aftermath...YES!

Oh my, I could not WAIT to wear these boots.  They are one of my favorite purchases for fall.  Only $25 on Overstock.com and free shipping!  They may still have them if you want to snag a pair for yourself!  The camel color is DIVINE and kind of rare.  I haven't seen many boots in this color before.  And you know I love anything with studs!  I give these boots an A++!  They are great to just throw on with an oversized sweater and leggings or tights with a skirt!  Soooo versatile.  Ok, I have a question for you all...Does anyone else tuck their jeans into their socks when wearing boots?  I always feel like a giant dork if I am trying on shoes in a store and have to expose my "jeans tucked into socks" look.  I always kind of hide my feet so no one sees.  Haha.  I just hate when my jeans bunch up over my boots, and socks seem to hold them in place!  Just one of my weird thoughts...

The leaves are starting to change, the sky is looking gloomy...but why is it still warm outside?!!  This outfit is as close to fall as I can get without dying from heat exhaustion!  I am sooo in denial about the weather.  My body's telling me no...but my miiiiind's telling me yes!  (Haha R Kelly reference)

These boots are the most difficult ones in my closet to wear!  I love them, but had the worst time EVER finding something to wear with them!  They are kind of bulky, and I have scrawny little legs.  Also, they are kind of lumberjack-esque (Yes, sometimes I make up my own words), so I don't want to look too manly!  I TOTALLY based this outfit off of the boots.  Determination clouded my judgement as I opened my closet this morning!

I am pretty proud of these jeans.  Found them on sale at Target for $13 and I have to say that they are pretty awesome!  Great fitting pants are few and far between for me, as probably for most women.  But when I laid eyes on these studded, distressed skinnies, I knew immediately that they would fit!  Love those moments!  When I first started wearing jeans with holes in them (purposely distressed), I can't even tell you how many people would ask me "oh, what happened did you fall down?" as they laughed to themselves, thinking that they were hilarious!  I love it!  I too laugh at my own jokes more times than not...(as she gives a sheepish grin).

Ok, this is starting to get out of control.  My obsession with army green continues and it is getting ridiculous!  It's everywhere I look in the stores and I cannot refrain from buying every item in this amazing color!  Somebody stop me before I drown in a sea of army green clothes!  Pretty soon I'm going to be dressed in a complete ensemble of army green and look like Oscar the Grouch!  Except with a smile of course!   I loooove these loose shorts.  They were on sale at Charlotte Russe for $12.

I don't normally like pairing two loose items together, but showing a little leg kind of makes it ok for some reason.  This shirt appears to be shapeless, but is actually perfectly nipped and tucked in the right places to create a little silhouette.

I have to say that I am completely smitten with clogs.  They are awesome!

This gold necklace I bought at Burlington Coat Factory for $7.  My favorite bangle bracelets and a cocktail ring from Forever 21 add a little more sparkle...as if it needed it.  I just realized that if I was wearing a floppy hat, rather than a fedora, I would kind of feel J Lo-esque.  LOL!  Maybe it's the shirt...

Ok...so I just HAD to try it.  Here is my "Socks With Heels" ensemble.  I actually really like it, but I have to admit, I did not have the guts to wear it in public!  I changed my shoes when I left the house!  So does that mean it doesn't count?  Heehee!  I wanted to test it out on you all first!

I apologize for being M.I.A. for the past couple of days.  We had a yard sale over the past weekend, and let me say that it was exhausting!  If felt amazing to clean out my closet and get rid of some things that I don't use.  I sold about 20 pairs of shoes.  Someone's trash is anothers treasure!  Now I have room for some new ones!  Ha.

I have been extremely excited to post these pictures because I think that the background is pretty cool.  The way the sun was setting behind the trees made the sky look wondrous!  My husband went with me on this photo shoot, and we took our two dogs (kids) with us.  Although, only one made it into the pictures.  Meet my little ball of fur...Gizmo.  He is just as bad as his name sounds!

I don't own very many expensive items...but these Christian Dior sunglasses are one of them!  Love them!  Anything expensive that I own was most likely a gift from either my parents or my husband.  It is a rare occasion that I spend over $100 dollars on one item.  It has to be pretty dang amazing!

I am loving all of the lace-up style shoes that are out right now.  These shoes I found on sale at JC Penny for $10.  Why they would mark down these amazing shoes to that low of a price, I have no idea!  But I am not going to complain about that!  Score!  One point for me!

Gizmo is having a little bit of the crazy eyes...but he IS smiling for the camera!  It's because he thinks he's famous now.  :)

Ok, so I lied...In an older post (It's Not Easy Being Green), I mentioned that I don't really care for camouflage.  Something came over me and I suddenly changed my mind.  This is proof that you shouldn't be quick to make judgement on a trend until you try it!  I found these pants on sale at JC Penny, and decided to go for it!

I don't care if it's still warm outside.  I have decided to put summer behind me and jump into fall colors.  After all, it IS September.  Cargo pants have become my go-to comfortable outfit rather than jeans.  Paired with the softest, slouchy sweatshirt I have ever felt, it will be difficult to not wear this every single day!  This fall consists of the most comfortable and cool style options.  Whoever thought of it is my fashion hero!

This is a kind of a rugged and grunge type look, so it was completely necessary to wear heels and lots of jewelry.  Makes me feel a little bit rock and roll. :)

Here are more pictures from my vacation in Nor Cal.  We took the 17 mile drive at Pebble Beach, which is completely gorgeous!  There is so much wildlife there: sea otters, seals, sea lions...I am such an animal lover.  We explored the tide pools and walked the beaches.  It was perfect!

We came across these beautiful trees that made for a perfect photo-op!  I accidentally stepped in poison oak...from my past camping adventures I should have known better, I was just not paying attention!  Thankfully nothing happened to my feet!

Our last stop before heading home was Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey.  We enjoyed amazing seafood, saw tons of jellyfish swimming, and came across this sea lion basking in the sun!  My husband snapped a quick photo...I was scared it would jump up and come after me!  They are not friendly creatures if they are bothered.

We witnessed a beautiful sunset on the drive home.  Now back to reality and back to the warm weather...yearning and waiting to be able to wear my fall clothes again.  That was just a tease of jackets, scarves and boots.  I am still counting down the days and watching the temperature drop!

This past weekend, my husband and I drove to San Francisco for our yearly "Anniversary Trip".  We would much rather create memories in different parts of the country than buy each other gifts, so we always plan a getaway for our anniversary.  Here are some pics of my trip and my vacation ensembles!

San Francisco was cold, cold, cold!  Which made me happy, happy, happy!  I FINALLY got to wear my military jackets and boots!  I took full advantage of the situation by wearing my boots as much as possible.  When going on vacation, I always bring comfortable outfits and flat shoes that I can walk in for a long period of time.  I don't know why, but my husband and I seem to get more excercise when we go on vacation, than when we're at home!  It seems that it should be the other way around, but we always end up walking everywhere!  We literally walked 25 blocks from Fisherman's Wharf, to our hotel because we couldn't get a cab to stop for us!  It turned out to be a really fun experience even though we were exhausted.  Thank God I wore my walking shoes!  These boots are made for walkin, and that's just what they'll do....

The Golden Gate Bridge was something else!  What an amazing piece of architecture!  Walking through Golden Gate park was so beautiful and peaceful.  So many amazing trees and flowers!

At the bottom of the bridge, there is an old military building called Fort Point and it was one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen!  How perfect that I am wearing army green for this occasion!  Not planned...just coincidence.When I saw this belt, I thought that it was the one of the coolest accessories I had ever seen.  It was one of those "I must have that" moments.  Purchased at Forever 21 for $20, which is a little pricey for them.

Since it was so freezing cold, and I was not prepared with a hat, I bought this head-band-hat-thing at a store along the Wharf.  I have seen Whitney, from "The City" wear one, and always thought it was ridiculously cute.  So, I am actually happy I forgot a hat, because it resulted in this!

These pants are extremely old man like!  It was a challenge to make them look cute, even though I really really like them.  In theory, they are extremely unflattering...pleated and tapered!  Sounds awful!  But paired with the right things, can look really chic and cool!

A tapered leg looks terrible on me, so I rolled them up to create a more flattering sillhouette.  If you are going to wear anything oversized (i.e. boyfriend jeans, blazer, t-shirt), make sure that everything else is well fitting.  Otherwise you might end up looking like a bag lady...or an Olsen twin haha.

This necklace pretty much rocks my world!  It jingles when I move; it's like Christmas came early!  I could not refrain from skipping down the sidewalk just to hear the jingle jangle.  I just could not control myself...I could not.
