A Christmas Tea Party

December 20, 2010 11:57 pm · Posted by sassysweetheart

I absoulutely LOVE Christmas!  It is by far my favorite holiday of the year!  Does anyone else love the Christmas mall hours beside me?  You can go shopping at 11pm in some stores!  That is just simply awesome.  My sister, mom and I attended a Christmas Tea Party Benefit to raise money for a ministry that helps women in prisons.  It was a wonderful event filled with music and extremely delicious food!  We had a blast, and this is what we wore...

My mom (middle) purchased her fuschia top at Kohl's and her animal print blazer at Marshall's.  My sister's clogs were bought at All Saints, and I have yet to ask her where she bought her outfit.  My dress was bought at H&M, and blazer at Citiwear.  The tights were purchased at Marshall's and shoes at Payless for $5.  No joke!

Furrr-ocious!

December 2, 2010 12:30 am · Posted by sassysweetheart

You may have thought that I fell off the face of the earth due to my lack of posting for the past three weeks, but I assure you I did not.  I am back and this time I am OBSESSED with faux fur.  Before I get into my outfit of the day, let me just share some news with you all.  I am officially pregnant with my first child and so completely excited!  Yay!  It has been a trying couple of weeks due to the fact that I am dealing with morning sickness (all day sickness more like it) and exhaustion.  It is tough getting out of bed in the morning, much less putting together outfits and posing for the camera.  Thankfully I have been feeling better as my first trimester is coming to an end in a couple of weeks and am back with a new spring in my step!  (Ok cheesy I know)

Now let me just talk about my faux fur obsession.  It seems to always pop up again during the fall/winter season, so whatever fur item you buy will most likely always be in season.  The winter months always make me feel like wearing it!  And to top it off, it is practical because it makes you feel cozy and warm.  My sister found this scarf in Forever 21 while we were shopping together, and we scoured the store in search for another.  To my dismay, they were all out.  I have looked for it in countless Forever 21 stores in my area and even online!  So, sadly to say, this scarf does not belong to me.  My sis (being the sweet and loving sister she is) let me borrow it for a little while.  I am still on a mission to find one of my own!

See, it really IS a scarf!  You didn't believe me did you?  I just belted it to make it look like a vest.  The leggings and sweater I purchased at Target for about $20 total.  Target is a great place to get basics for cheap.  Especially on the sale rack!  I bought these boots at Bakers at the end of the winter season last year for only $30!  They are real leather, and normally go for $100.  Make sure you hit the end of season sales this year!  It is the best time to get amazing deals on boots and jackets!

Here is my version of white in the winter time as promised in my earlier post Winter White.  I want to try an all white ensemble, but haven't gotten the perfect combination yet.  How would you wear this trend?  I could use your creative ideas!

Ruffle Me Crazy

November 8, 2010 8:56 pm · Posted by sassysweetheart

Not only am I in love with the color of this jacket, but TA-DA!  It has ruffles too!  Add ruffles to anything and I will fall in love instantly.  This camel color is so versatile and a less harsh version of the leather jacket as opposed to a black one.  It almost goes with anything!  Throw it over jeans and a t-shirt, or a long bohemian dress.  The result is instant put-togetherness!

Black and Brown? Get Out Of Town!

November 3, 2010 12:32 pm · Posted by sassysweetheart

Who says that black and brown don't go together?  Throw that out the window!  I looove black and brown together!  It is such a cool and modern combination.  Any shade of brown...tan, chocolate, and my favorite CAMEL!  I once saw Jessica Alba wearing a black dress with a camel colored belt and instantly fell in love with those colors together.  Add another muted color like army green and you have an awesome color pallette!

I think I'm in love...with this brown biker vest.  I am going to be wearing it a lot because it just goes with everything.  These black wedge heel boots are made by Tommy Hilfiger and are so incredibly comfortable.  I have been on the hunt for some wedge boots for a while, and finally found them at Marshall's for $35.  It is so worth it to shop at discount stores, you can really find some amazing deals.  I hardly ever shop at the mall anymore except to go to Forever 21 or H&M.  These shoes would normally sell for $100 at Macy's.  How can you beat that deal?  Jeez...

Pretty As A Picture

November 1, 2010 9:07 pm · Posted by sassysweetheart

At this photo shoot with my sister, we decided to get creative and use a prop!  I absolutely love the way these pictures turned out, and we had a blast as you will probably be able to tell when you browse through them.  My sister is the perfect model!  She is wearing a perfect blend of sassy and sweet with pleather pants from H&M and a loose romantic top.  The clogs were purchased from a second hand store.  What a find!  She bought her hat at Forever 21 but trimmed a couple of inches off of the brim because it was a little too wide for her taste.  An excellent example of how to buy something and make it work for you!

To The Max

I must apologize for the lack of posts lately, life just gets a little crazy sometimes!  This maxi skirt is my new favorite go-to comfy item!  It's a little boho with this fringe vest, and clogs are the perfect balance to the silhouette.  I just can't get enough of those clogs!  What do you think about long skirts?  Would you wear this look?

The Short Of It

October 22, 2010 12:55 am · Posted by sassysweetheart

Since it has been raining a bit where I live I have been drawn to my hat collection a lot more frequently.  My hair turns to an awful, frizzy, mess in the rain and I would rather just avoid it altogether!  Not only that, but I am starting to get roots again!  Almost time for another hair appointment!

So what do you think of shorts with tights?  I love it because it enables you to wear shorts when it's cold!  It opens up so many more style options the colder months.  When I first wore shorts, tights and heels I felt a little hoochie (are people still saying that?) but when I asked my husband, he said it looked nice.  He is always my gauge in hoochie-ness!  I can always count on him for the truth!  I don't think he wants his wife parading around in booty shorts!  Heehee.

Grey and green is my new favorite color combination.  My husband actually wore some grey shorts and a green shirt the other day (by my suggestion).  He originally thought it didn't match but I explained to him that grey is a neutral and basically goes with anything!  You would think that being so into fashion, that I would want to style everyone I know!  Believe it or not, I don't normally pick out my husband's clothes!  I just throw in little suggestions here and there!  I tell him "You know sports, but I know fashion!"  To each his own!

How amazing is this purse?  It is Nine West and I got it at Marshall's for $15 because the clasp was broken.  I fixed it!  I love deals like that because a lot of damaged items are fixable!  You just have to make sure that it is worth the discount.  In this case I saved about $15.  Totally worth it!

Just being silly.  Seriously, I look so ridiculous when taking pictures of myself.  Just me...by myself...with a tripod...jumping around.  Ahhh the humiliation.

More silliness...

Tell Me About It...Stud

October 20, 2010 12:28 am · Posted by sassysweetheart

It is completely and officially cold outside where I live!  No more random days of 95 degree weather I hope.  In all actuality, we are never really happy with the weather.  We always want it to be what it is not.  I'm sure I will soon be ranting about how I am sick and tired of wearing tights and jackets everyday!  But as of this moment, I am reveling in it!  There is nothing like the fresh air after the rain.  I don't care for the rain, but the aftermath...YES!

Oh my, I could not WAIT to wear these boots.  They are one of my favorite purchases for fall.  Only $25 on Overstock.com and free shipping!  They may still have them if you want to snag a pair for yourself!  The camel color is DIVINE and kind of rare.  I haven't seen many boots in this color before.  And you know I love anything with studs!  I give these boots an A++!  They are great to just throw on with an oversized sweater and leggings or tights with a skirt!  Soooo versatile.  Ok, I have a question for you all...Does anyone else tuck their jeans into their socks when wearing boots?  I always feel like a giant dork if I am trying on shoes in a store and have to expose my "jeans tucked into socks" look.  I always kind of hide my feet so no one sees.  Haha.  I just hate when my jeans bunch up over my boots, and socks seem to hold them in place!  Just one of my weird thoughts...

Something Old, Something New

October 19, 2010 1:42 am · Posted by sassysweetheart

How freakin' awesome is this skirt?!  I paid a visit to some local antique shops and found this vintage real leather beauty for $14.  I am sooo in love with it.  Actually, I am in love with this entire outfit.  It is a size 4, but is so tiny that it feels like it was made for me!  The shirt was purchased at Target for $7.  I don't think I've loved two pieces together this much EVER!

This look definitely has a vintage vibe to it.  The silhouette of the skirt.  The pearls.  The lace.  When wearing vintage items it is important to add modern items so you don't look like you stepped out of a 50's magazine.  The pearls are vintage-inspired, but the layers and layers of them make them a modern statement necklace.  The feather earrings and statement heels complete it!  I am defintely NOT a minimalist!
