The World Is My Runway

It is completely and officially cold outside where I live!  No more random days of 95 degree weather I hope.  In all actuality, we are never really happy with the weather.  We always want it to be what it is not.  I'm sure I will soon be ranting about how I am sick and tired of wearing tights and jackets everyday!  But as of this moment, I am reveling in it!  There is nothing like the fresh air after the rain.  I don't care for the rain, but the aftermath...YES!

Oh my, I could not WAIT to wear these boots.  They are one of my favorite purchases for fall.  Only $25 on Overstock.com and free shipping!  They may still have them if you want to snag a pair for yourself!  The camel color is DIVINE and kind of rare.  I haven't seen many boots in this color before.  And you know I love anything with studs!  I give these boots an A++!  They are great to just throw on with an oversized sweater and leggings or tights with a skirt!  Soooo versatile.  Ok, I have a question for you all...Does anyone else tuck their jeans into their socks when wearing boots?  I always feel like a giant dork if I am trying on shoes in a store and have to expose my "jeans tucked into socks" look.  I always kind of hide my feet so no one sees.  Haha.  I just hate when my jeans bunch up over my boots, and socks seem to hold them in place!  Just one of my weird thoughts...

I am totally in love with this super comfortable, extremely chic, sweat pants and heels trend!  This look has it all; a little bit of sex appeal, the "cool and effortless" factor, and a whole lot of comfort!

Here is my version of the trend (please try not to compare me with the models above).  The first time I saw it was actually in an issue of Lucky Magazine (my absolute favorite magazine for style inspiration).  I couldn't wait to find some cute sweat pants and put together my own look.  Today was a perfect day for it too, because wait for it...the temperature was in the low 70's!  A perfect overcast day just in time for this cozy, comfortable outfit!  Beware when you try this at home folks.  You may put your sweats on and want to climb back into bed!  Ha!

On my recent trip up North, my husband and I stopped at a flea market.  Even though he probably didn't want to go, he was a trooper and took me without one complaint!  Love that man of mine!  A flea market is definitely a hit or miss, and as soon as I saw this necklace, I snatched it up!  It is very special to me 1) because my husband bought it for me, 2) it is my first flea market purchase, and 3) I bargained with the lady to lower the price!  Excuse me while I pat myself on the back. :)

On another note, what do you all think of the clog trend?  I quite like it!  Especially when girls wear them with shorts or dresses.  So cute!  I bought these clogs last year at Target on a whim and ONLY because they were $5.  Nobody wanted these lonely little shoes.  They were the rejects at the time...but lucky for me, they came back in style!

This past weekend, my husband and I drove to San Francisco for our yearly "Anniversary Trip".  We would much rather create memories in different parts of the country than buy each other gifts, so we always plan a getaway for our anniversary.  Here are some pics of my trip and my vacation ensembles!

San Francisco was cold, cold, cold!  Which made me happy, happy, happy!  I FINALLY got to wear my military jackets and boots!  I took full advantage of the situation by wearing my boots as much as possible.  When going on vacation, I always bring comfortable outfits and flat shoes that I can walk in for a long period of time.  I don't know why, but my husband and I seem to get more excercise when we go on vacation, than when we're at home!  It seems that it should be the other way around, but we always end up walking everywhere!  We literally walked 25 blocks from Fisherman's Wharf, to our hotel because we couldn't get a cab to stop for us!  It turned out to be a really fun experience even though we were exhausted.  Thank God I wore my walking shoes!  These boots are made for walkin, and that's just what they'll do....

The Golden Gate Bridge was something else!  What an amazing piece of architecture!  Walking through Golden Gate park was so beautiful and peaceful.  So many amazing trees and flowers!

At the bottom of the bridge, there is an old military building called Fort Point and it was one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen!  How perfect that I am wearing army green for this occasion!  Not planned...just coincidence.When I saw this belt, I thought that it was the one of the coolest accessories I had ever seen.  It was one of those "I must have that" moments.  Purchased at Forever 21 for $20, which is a little pricey for them.

Since it was so freezing cold, and I was not prepared with a hat, I bought this head-band-hat-thing at a store along the Wharf.  I have seen Whitney, from "The City" wear one, and always thought it was ridiculously cute.  So, I am actually happy I forgot a hat, because it resulted in this!

Alas!  As I am browsing the stores I feast my eyes on boots, cargo pants, muted neutral tones and leather jackets!  Summer is coming to an end and fall is on it's way!  Yes!  Oh yes!  The past couple days have been sunny but somewhat cool...the perfect weather!  I love feeling the wind in my hair when there is a little breeze.  It is so refreshing!  And it makes me feel like I'm in a movie or something.  You know when they show a girl in slow motion with her hair blowing in the wind.  Cheeeesy!

This is such a perfect transitional outfit from summer to fall.  Still light enough for the heat, but incorporating some trends for fall.  Military elements are really hot right now.  I always love military details on my clothing no matter what season.  It adds a little toughness to any look.  Leopard print is also in for fall.  I am itching to purchase a leopard print purse!  That is definitely going on the top of my IT list right now!

After many years of paying close attention to trends, I have found that the clothing of each season stays pretty much the same.  It is the sillhouette and details that really change (For example, the exaggerated shoulder was really popular this past year, I think that's kind of dying down now).  This makes it quite easy to keep your look updated.  Keep your classic pieces for each season, i.e. a leather jacket for fall.  Then you pair it with a trendy piece or two, i.e. the leather jacket with tapered trousers and a statement necklace.  Another tip on trends:  Don't spend too much on trendy items because you may only wear them one or two times (unless you can afford it then by all means...go for it).  Forever 21 and H&M keep up with all the lastest looks and are very inexpensive!
