A woman's closet can be her best friend, or worst enemy. Getting ready in the morning can be so much fun, but if you can't find anything, it can be a nightmare! Everyone has different ways of organization that works for them. I like to call mine...organized chaos! It may look cluttered, but I know where everything is! Here are a few ways that I like to stay organized, and you also get a peek into my closet! Don't judge me! :)
I will start with my shoe collection. The count is official...136 pairs. I have said it before, I am totally a shoe girl! To keep the shape of my boots, I put newspaper and shopping bags inside them. This is a cheap alternative to buying boot forms.
My necklaces, shoe clips, hats, and some belts are hung on the wall in my closet. I actually used nails, which is a cheap way to do it, but hooks from the hardware store would be great too (and a lot prettier). Believe it or not, the necklaces are organized by length and style. BTW, shoe clips are an amazing way to spice up your plain shoes. They sound sooo old school, but they are genius! Genius I say!
I love purchasing little plastic boxes and things for organization. The more items you can separate, the easier it will be to find them. I bought these plastic bins at the grocery store for 69 cents! Try storing your seasonal items such as bathing suits, scarves, and gloves, and bring them out when that season comes along.
A belted waist is my favorite, and I have developed quite a collection over the years. The belts get their own special drawer!
Another storage option is to buy decorative boxes and stack them on top of your dresser or a table. I bought these at Ross for about $5.00 each.
One of the keys to closet organization is to utilize all your space, even the walls! This plastic compartment holds all my earrings and hardly takes up any room. Use hidden space, like under your bed. "Shoes Under" is a great way to store shoes. I have those too, but I figured you knew what those look like!
If you don't have a lot of space, or just have too many clothes, this is a great way to fold them. This is how I fold all of my t-shirts, shorts, jeans, and cotton skirts. I can still see each one, and it takes up less room! If the item is made out of a nicer material such as chiffon, I would suggest to hang it up.
I hope you enjoyed your peek into my closet and that you received some ideas on how to better organize your own! Send me your own creative ideas if you have any!
